For many women, one of the only time we pay attention to the area around the eyes is when applying makeup or when removing our eye makeup at the end of the day. In both cases, we’re often in a rush, rubbing and tugging away. When we so frequently pull on this delicate area of skin – like when you tug on a rubber band for too long – it loses its elasticity. Only patience and care will keep you from yanking when applying your makeup, but a great eye makeup remover can help keep you from pulling when it’s time to take it all off.
After years of struggling to remove waterproof makeup and trying to find an eye makeup remover that didn’t irritate, the DIY eye makeup remover here would break down even the most stubborn eye makeup! As an added bonus: the avocado and coconut oils in this one double as my gently exfoliating and extremely hydrating night eye cream, too!
1 tablespoon extra virgin cold pressed coconut oil
1 teaspoon avocado oil
If the coconut oil is solidified, place the container in a bowl of hot (not boiling) water until melted.
In a small bowl, mix the coconut oil and avocado oil before transferring to a small plastic container. Store in the refrigerator to keep solidified.
To use, warm a small amount in your hand before gently massaging around your eyes to emulsify the makeup.
Use a cotton pad or a tissue to gently wipe away the makeup. Repeat until the cotton wipes clean.
Leave residual oil on your skin to penetrate overnight.
Apply all these DIY recipes around your lips, too! They will help to prevent the vertical fine lines that make lipstick bleed as you age.
Don’t over wash your face. Cleansing too often or too aggressively can leave your skin dry and your eyes more wrinkle-prone.
